MAPA was borne in the pristine waters off Gabo Island in Mallacoota, Victoria, Australia. Utilising over 30 years of abalone diving experience our late parents, Mary&Gerry Menke perfected a way to cultivate the rarest of natural gems............the abalone pearl. MAPA cultivates its abalone in the wild waters on the Wilderness Coast of Victoria where the turbulent nutrient rich waters make it ideal for the growth of abalone. Unlike the oyster, the abalone creates a mabe pearl - or half-sphere - as the abalone has one shell rather than two. It's shape makes the abalone pearl ideal to set into rings, pendants, earrings and other jewellery. Very few abalone pearl cultivators exist in the world. MAPA is unique in Australia as we are the only producer to cultivate pearls in wild abalone in the open ocean environment.
